About our sites
Solitaire Laboratory and Puzzle Laboratory are information
sites
covering a wide range of subjects in the field of games and
puzzles. Solitaire Laboratory focuses on card
solitaire (patience) with some material on other card
games. Puzzle Laboratory mainly covers logic puzzles
(including cryptarithms, sudoku and related puzzles, and Castawords
(which is a specialty here)) and mathematical puzzles (twisting puzzles
and polyforms). Some of the articles here are
partly resource guides, but with substantial amounts of original
material. We have made every effort to properly credit creators
and sources of information; please contact us about any mistakes or additions and we will correct at once.
This is a traditional (old-fashioned if you like) HTML website
containing only text and pictures. All of the material is
free: there are no paid advertisements, frames, popups, embedded video,
or anything to interfere with reading the articles. Although some
of the articles are long, they rely on no third-party software, and
should load quickly. There's nothing to prevent you from
printing them or saving them as PDFs, although they are not formatted
for printing and are intended for reading online.
This allows the articles to be corrected and updated immediately at any
time, and also to be read more easily if the existing print is too
small. You do not
need to register: we don't want or need your e-mail in order for you to
access any of the articles, you don't need a password, and the site (to
our knowledge) uses no
cookies or Javascript. All outside links should go directly where the
description says (please contact us if any link is broken or goes
somewhere unexpected, and we will fix or remove it). If you find the
material here useful and wish to make a donation, you may do so through
the Support Our Sites page (think of this as the internet equivalent of
public television or radio, but without the pledge drives).
At one time we had three other domains: Accordion Virtuoso, for a
planned adventure campaign (with a musical theme) based on the
solitaire Accordion; Putrid Slime from Pluto, for a science-fiction
puzzle adventure, and Solitaire Arcade, covering casual games (Solitaire Arcade is now a page under the primary domain).
Contacting Us
You may contact us at our primary e-mail address
with questions or comments about any of the content here. We will
attempt to reply to all legitimate inquiries, and are happy to discuss
topics of interest.
If you are offering web design or SEO consulting services, or selling or trying to buy advertising, don't bother
to contact us: those e-mails will be deleted without reply (half of
them aren't even contacting the correct website, or have clearly not
even read any of the website pages).
FreeCell
For many years we offered FreeCell consulting services, answering
questions about the game and providing solutions (when possible) to
specific deals. We are not really involved much with FreeCell any
more, although the extensive FAQ and other pages will remain available,
and we will attempt to answer general questions about the game which
are not answered in the FAQ. We can no longer answer
solution requests, and cannot answer any questions about Microsoft
FreeCell or any of the hundreds of other implementations (please
contact the publisher of your app with any problems or questions)
